Lenora Howl
Work History

  • 2019- today
    CARAVAN WINE SHOP
    Stevens Point, WI
    Owner
Graphic & Web design for all programs and events
    Arts and educational programming
    Budgeting and bookkeeping
Research and artwork for monthly wine club magazine

Note: I have never worked harder, for more hours of the day, without a break in my life. This is where I got into great design shape creating logos, flyers, postcards, calendars, newsletters, and menus regularly and quickly, all needing to be unique but with a recognizable style threading them together.

  • 2015- today
    MARK SYMCZAK ESTATE
    Montclair, NJ
    Archivist
Photography and documentation of paintings, drawings, sculptures and slides
Development of website and online file management
Promotion of work through organizing gallery exhibitions and individual sales

Note: This is the ongoing preservation of my father’s 40 year legacy of work. He left behind hundreds of pieces that we are trying to digitally preserve, but the discovered benefit of this project has been trying to find meaning in each piece and posthumously write about his motives.

  • 2019- 2021
    UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN STEVENS POINT
    Stevens Point, WI
Office Manager, Dean of Students Office

Note: This was a run of the mill office job that reminded me that I love being organized, but need more passion for the institution in order to keep my fire lit.

  • 2019
    COOLVINES
    Jersey City, NJ
    Bookkeeper

Note: Learned intro to bookkeeping which would serve me as a small business owner. I am still nestled into the basics as a bookkeeper, but proficient enough.

  • 2017- 2019
    THE LOST GRAPE WINE TASTINGS
    New York City, NY
    Co- Founder
    Promotional design and menu design
    Tasting research and writing
Survey design for studies on memory and curiosity

Note: These wine tastings were centered around the role of wine in human history and their design was heavily influenced by my masters program where I was studying how curiosity influences learning, motivation, and memory.

  • 2016- 2018
    2001AT50 FESTIVAL
    New York City, NY
    Co- Founder
Promotional design, program design, web design
    Event coordination, documentation, and archiving

Note: This was my first collaboration with my life partner Sequoia Howl who would bring me into his ongoing program The Lost Grape and who I would open Caravan Wine Shop with. This festival celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey a film that continues to astound me in every watch. We designed programming that allowed for further investigation of this film in the form of salon discussions, theatrical renditions, and a rescoring of the whole film by multiple musicians across the country.

  • 2008- 2015
    INSTITUTE OF CONTEMPORARY ART/ BOSTON
    Boston, MA
    Teen New Media Programs Associate
Designed new media after school programs for high school students
Admin of student data and experience
Coordinated between public school teachers, students, and parents
Bridged medium with current exhibition in galleries for every class

Note: This job really formed the kind of person I would become. It was my first job out of college as an intern and blossomed into the most inspiring and influential experience I could have asked for. This job (and my amazing boss who I worked for the entire 7 years) was where I became dedicated, learned how to take myself seriously, figured out my style of staying organized, found my voice as an adult, and discovered a passion for education (both for myself and others). Not to mention an admiration for contemporary art.

  • 2004- 2019
    SERVICE INDUSTRY
Boston, MA/ New York City, NY/ Jersey City, NJ
    Server
Worked in a myriad of pizzerias, cafes, bakeries, and restaurants off and on to fill in the gaps

NOTE: This is how I learned to hustle, and where I learned to read and manage people. Nothing seems too busy after working in restaurants.
